Description
The Golden Horn brand left little in it's wake except for beautifully carvedmeerschaum masterpieces.
And few of those. This is one such example.
This bust of Aristotle was given to me in the late 1960s as I was both a pipe smoker and a philosophy student in college at the time. As a philosophy student I learned such classic sayings as "Would you like to see a menu?" and "Please pull up to the next window."
None the less, this was a gracious and lovely gift which I have treasured ever since.
But I never smoked it. (Not a big meerschaum fan.) And the longer I didn't, the more I was reluctant to spoil it's pristine timelessness.
But here we are some 50 years later. I feel the need to pass this on to a true aficionado who will appreciate the artistry, the craftsmanship and the wonderful smoking qualities of a vintage meerschaum.
Otherwise, it will just rattle around in my estate and end up in the hands of some grandchild who will smoke pot
out of it. Blasphemous!
So. The pipe is near mint. It has gathered some very small dark spots on the shoulders. Probably from rubbing around inside the box. And the gentleman has a couple of dings on his forehead. Which I have always dismissed as juvenile acne scars. (OK, I just made that up.)
Otherwise pristine. No tooth marks on stem. No tobacco residue in bowl. This original box shows considerable signs of wear from following me around the country.
