I HAD TO PACK IT IN A OVERSIZED BOX.
i bought this new in the mid 1980s and used it regularly until 1999.  Without actually trying to, I seem to have taken superb care of it.  While preparing the easel for sale I have discovered that it is unmarred. The one flaw is the piston; it is designed to hold the frame aloft to make paper placement easier.  The first piston lasted 2-3 months;  Omega sent a replacement which also lasted 2-3 months.  I gave up.  The easel is a joy to use.  To repeat, it is in pristine condition, especially when compared to the others currently listed on ebay.  No scratches, no stains.
One operational thing Saunders mentioned on the instructional sheet I'd like to pass on:  lift the frame slightly (2nd photo) when moving the blades.  The frame is heavy.  The drag of the blades on the baseboard is an extra and unnecessary burden on the blade mechanism.  An easy discipline to master and it saves on having to adjust the blade angle.
Back to the shipping.  The easel itself weighs approximately 15 pounds and in a effort to get it to the new owner undamaged it is going into a large heavily braced box.  Unavoidably costly.
