MEERSCHAUM PIPE, RECLINING VICTORIAN WOMAN in HAT w/ FAN & GLASS, in RISQUE POSE

Description

Today I can offer for sale a quite attractive, vintage Meerschaum pipe with a well rendered design of a woman in Victorian era garb, reclining with what appears to be a beverage and fan, wearing a low cut dress and large hat, with her dress hiked up a bit to her mid calf, revealing her stockings. The carving is well rendered, (imo), and there doesn't appear to be any breaks in the Meerschaum. The pipe still retains its original stem w/ an attractive marbling effect, and the pipe is still housed in its original red velvet lined, leather case. The small brass latch hardware still engages and keeps the case closed. The bowl of the pipe is depicted as rising up out of a flower by all appearances. The pipe measures roughly 5 1/2 inches long, and is approximately 2 1/2 inches tall. It has obviously been smoked, but does not exhibit too dark of a patina from handling, so I'd have to assume it wasn't smoked often. The case is, as aforementioned, in good overall shape, has some scuffing to the leather but all in all is quite decent. A very attractive pipe here, which I'm sure will enhance any collection.
