At auction we feature this decades-old Meerschaum pipe made in Istanbul. The 6-inch long pipe is still in the original, taped together box, but it's brand new and untouched after all these years. All tags and instructions are still neatly folded inside the box.
The carved detail of the man in the turban is astounding. Especially his eyes! The butterscotch bakelite has great swirls of golden/milky colors. The hand-carved bowl is block meerschaum, which is stone-like, fossilized organic sea life. The natural compound has been used in the Cradle of Civilization for 300 years for pipe-making. It's lightweight, but stays cool to the touch. This is the real deal, and it's absolutely pristine.
