    Description

High quality fused silica quartz construction cuvettes with black side walls and base for absorption measurements in the UV-visible range, each with PTFE lids. Black cuvettes are always usable in the UV range, and the two windows are typically QS quartz (200 - 2500 nm). These are really long optical pathlength (40 mm, make sure you have an appropriate cuvette holder!), plus there is no material label on either cuvette, so it's hard to imagine you'd get great performance at wavelengths shorter than about 250 mm due to the absorbance contribution of just about any solvent. That's just physics.
The great condition of this item belies its age and uniqueness. As you can see in the pictures (although it was hard to photograph!) each cuvette is labeled with a "182" and "4.000" that we interpret to be a pair matching lot number and the precise pathlength in cm, respectively. Optically matched cuvettes are most useful in double-beam spectrophotometers, and this is probably how they were designated to stay together as a matched set.
To the best of our knowledge, you can't buy these ANYwhere else. That's especially true if they are, as it seems, true optical pairs, always an expensive custom job. As a result, we've followed Hellma's catalogue numbering rules to make one up for this item. We have also made educated guesses about the following specifications: Volume, 5600 µl; Outside dimensions (Height, 45 mm; Width, 12.5 mm; Depth, 42.5 mm); Inside dimensions (Width, 4 mm; Base thickness, 3.2 mm). We can't estimate what the beam center should be, but it's a pretty big target for most spectrophotometers. Notably, it doesn't have the tall-base volume-reducing feature seen on some semi-micro cuvettes.
