    Description

    Holmium glass filter (279 - 638 nm) in a metal frame for checking wavelength accuracy of spectrophotometers equipped with a standard 10 mm pathlength cuvette holder. The spectrum you get has a range of narrow, well defined peaks in the UV and visible range: 279, 361, 453, 536, 638 nm (1 nm slit width). In contrast to filters that use a liquid holmium solution (Holmium liquid filter), the exact wavelengths of peaks vary a bit, but are exactly specified for this batch of glass in the insert under the lid. The holmium glass filter has a weaker spectrum with fewer peaks, and in the low UV range, absorbance due to the glass matrix is superimposed on the holmium peaks. The main advantage of using a glass filter over a liquid filter is that it is more robust.
