    Description

GRAHAM CLAYTON COUTEL SHEFFIELD ENGLAND PEARL SKINNER EXHIBITION KNIFE
Museum worthy cutlery art! Here is a very fine SKINNER KNIFE by the premier MODERN SHEFFIELD ENGLAND maker!
Graham Clayton is from Kellham Island, Sheffield England and began making knives for Wostenholm at the age of 15. In 1965 he went to work for Ibberson and then in the mid-1970's he began making knives on his own. He began selling knives under the name DIGBY’S and HOUSE OF COUTEL in the early 1980's.
This particular knife is a fantastic SKINNER knife with MOTHER OF PEARL handles. It has a very heavy stock carbon steel blade. AAA Mother of Pearl handles with engraved GERMAN silver bolsters. Immaculate engraving. The blade is in good condition but it does have carbon spots. I have not attempted to clean it as I figure that would be better left to a professional cleaner. Slight tarnish on the German Silver handles which feature a finely engraved animal which appears to be a mythological hybrid creature. Do your research on this one! This is one of the finest knives ever made!
