ABOUT THE MASTER CARVER R. KARACA
Ramazan KARACA was born at 1958 a small village called Turkmen Tokat located in Eskisehir, Turkey.
Ramazan KARACA had grown in the village untill his school age came. The villiga he was born is also known as one of the best raw meerschaum deposits. So we can say he was born in meerschaum and grown in meerschaum. All his family and relatives were mining and were meerschaum hunting underground.
When the scholl years came he moved to the city Eskisehir. His school years and meerschaum carving years were almost started at the same time period. Some of his relatives from his village were master carvers of those days at the city and some were working for master carvers. Ramzan started to help them and his meerschaum carving career started at elementary school days as a part time apprenticeship. In 1979 he completed his school education as well as his meerschaum carving education. He turned back to village in 1979 as an educated master carver. He had worked with his brother Veli until1988 and after he started to work alone.
He still lives in the village and For last 10 years he runs his family farm operations and carves as well.
The R. KARACA collection features remarkably detailed full body figured animals and portraits.
