    Description

    The AMICE is the first liturgical garment that the priest wears across the shoulders and tied in front, when vesting for the celebration of the Mass in the Traditional Roman Catholic Rite. It symbolizes submission in bearing the yoke of Christ in the priestly ministry.
    It is a pure white fine linen rectangle, measuring 33 14” long and 22 1/4” wide, with a 7/8” wide pulled thread indent decorating all four sides, and a white square cross embroidered at the center- plus fancy squared corners holding the ribbed white silk ribbons on the two top corners . These ribbons are 48” long and 7/8” wide.
    The linen portion is vintage in age, given by a convent when it closed to a members of a religious community in my area, who added the ribbon at a later time. Graded in Mint condition, ironed and folded, it has never been used.
