Here is a replica of the very rare Ames 1849 fixed 13” blade Rifleman Knife. There were only 1000 of these original Ames knives made and many were lost after they were distributed on the frontier and during the California hold rush by deserting soldiers. As a historical note accordingly to an article in Blade Mag Aug 2021 the Ames 1849 was also the first official Army contract for a combat knife. This replica knife is marked on the blade as made in India. It was marketed to me by Amazon. The carbon steel blade is 13 inches long and .21 inches thick. The edge is blunt and unsharpened. The blade has an as made directional grain finish. The guard is a heavy double brass guard bright and shiny. The wood handle has three pins and lanyard hole. The leather sheath has a brass tip and brass collar with a frog pin. There is no frog with this knife. The knife is new and a replica. Thank You for looking and please see the pictures.
