I never thought I'd be the repository of esoteric data regarding photographic lenses but the information seems to be getting lost and smeared...I have for sale a true Gorez Dagor lens, six elements in two groups, uncoated and from about 100 years ago given the dual markings along the barrel, that was the period for those. This is an era for unprecedented craftsmanship which was required for a lens of this caliber. You WANT a barrel lens from this period and you want to make sure the serial numbers are matching. This assures the lens came from the factory and it's own quality control. One eighth of a turn difference in matching these elements and the beauty is gone from the piece. You've missed the point. These were hand made lenses, each one a gem.
The glass in this one is excellent, two very tiny inclusions in the front element/group that you will have to search for, no fog or fungus, blades work SO beautifully. I do not have the proper mounting ring for this barrel but will include one on a 132mm square board that will hold it steady if you have the judicious application of force in mind when you give it a 20 degree turn. In the past, for other lenses, I hand cut a slightly smaller circle in 1/8" masonite with a coping saw, filed it to a clean circle then threaded in the brass barrel letting it cut its own threads. Now that I have more money I'd suggest getting in touch with someone who can measure and cut a proper mounting flange. I never got around to this myself nor the masonite. I shot film with this lens only once. I have a matching 7" dagger lens lens in period correct shutter that I was going to use along with this one as viewing lens to make a 5x7 twin lens reflex camera, Big Plans that never came to be. I am selling them separately now.
