Description
SummaryA negative carrier for Omega D enlargers. Specify the size, color, and border variant of the specific one you are looking for. If your size is not available or you would like something custom, just let me know! This carrier functions in much the same way as the original Omega carriers though they are plastic instead of metal and made to order based on your desired combination.
This is the 3rd version of my Omega D carriers. This version comes with thumb notches (to make it easier to separate the two halves) as well as 3D printed pins which are installed on the bottom half. My previous versions had the pins on the top half which were printed as part of the top. While this was not a huge deal (and sometimes was helpful for very curly film), I am offering the pins-on-bottom version by default moving forward. If you prefer the pins on top, just let me know!
Top Color
There are two top colors to choose from - white and black with there being a premium for white (as it takes longer to print). The later model OEM Omega carriers were painted white on top, supposedly, to couple with the color heads.
Border / Frame-Size Options
Standard - the opening is the standard size, either from the OEM or based on the measurements of the exposed area, to fully mask the negative
Bordered - the opening is a little larger than standard to expose part of the rebate of the negative. This is mostly for printing a black border around your image. Note this can impact flaring.
Full-Frame - the opening goes all the way to the film edge exposing the entire rebate (including frame numbers and, for 35mm, sprockets). Due to potential flatness and flaring issues, this is best used when you want to specifically print the entire rebate.
Note that the carriers are frequently updated which is not always reflected in the photos, particularly given all the combinations. Your specific carrier may have improvements not otherwise seen.
These were designed by me and are printed on demand using Atomic PLA on my modified Prusa MK3s 3D printers. They should bring you years of reliable use when using them for normal printing sessions as long as they are stored reasonably. Store them with your lenses (e.g. not in an attic on a hot summer South Texas day shoved in an unnamed box to be forgotten about for 20 years).
I will be offering these style carriers in many other sizes as well so check my other listings for those!
